HOUSTON — The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for northwestern Harris County until 10:15 p.m.

Record heat today across Southeast Texas is providing the fuel for incoming storms overnight.  Highs across the area reached into the low 80s, but a small cool-down is on the way for Sunday.  Downpours and thunderstorms are likely overnight as a weak cold front passes through the area.  Sunshine should return by late morning on Sunday.

And storms that develop overnight will be slow moving so heavy rain and localized street flooding will be the main concerns.

The heaviest rain will arrive in the city of Houston between 11pm and 1am.  Through the night the line will continue to push south towards the coast, with showers leftover on the back end.

By Sunday morning, most of the rain should be ending with one or two stray showers possible around sunrise.  As the day goes on, skies will clear quickly, with sunshine returning by midday.  Highs will be a touch cooler, near 70 degrees.

Warmth returns for the start of the week before a stronger cold front arrives Thursday.  That will knock temperatures down significantly for the end of the week, with below normal highs possible for the first time this year.
